Passing

Short target pass

Set up

Choose a short distance at which the receiver can comfortably catch the ball.

Run the drill

  1. Find a grip that lets you control the ball. Ask the receiver to show a target.
  2. Step toward that target with the foot opposite your throwing arm and make a controlled pass.
  3. Ask where the ball arrived, reset and swap roles.

Watch for

Aim for a repeatable, catchable pass before increasing distance.

Adjust it

Stay close and reduce throwing effort if the receiver has to chase the ball.
